I know alot of you play different servers in WoW, but I consider Eonar to be the home of Chaotic Carnage as there is the only server with the guild name Chaotic Carnage.  I encourage everyone to at least make a backup toon on that server and come join us.

I'm not sure whether to be ashamed or proud of this accomplishment, but I've actually got every class at 90, minus a Death Knight and Monk, who are 87 and 84, respectively. Definitely considering transferring a character, or even leveling a new one. Faction? PvP or PvE server? Horde:Alliance ratio?

It's a PvE server and we are alliance. I'm not sure about the horde to alliance ratio as I just reactivated my account recently, and right now it doesn't seem to be an extremely active server, but I've seen it go up and down over the past few years. Would love the help if you came over to the server as we are basically just restarting and still leveling the guild there.

What do you need for the guild/want to have with you for PvE regarding classes? I wouldn't be asking if I wanted the generic, play what you feel like playing. I've got experience with everything.

Well we could really use a good healer. I have a tank, and im sure you know, getting dps isn't really that hard.

Rolled a Druid last night, Aubrie was kind enough to toss me a guild invite. Currently level 10.

Edit for bonus info regarding Direct3D and frequent crashes and a solution:

Both Jettand and Aubrie were having issues with white screens, loss of responsiveness of WoW, and repeated crashes. I knew it wasn't hardware related, as this happens to me, but on a much less frequent basis. My first guess was that it was DirectX, or drivers. Upon investigating DirectX, I found that if you go to 'Your WoW Folder' > WTF > Config.wtf and search for a gxAPI command, you'll find that it calls for DirectX 11 or 9, in quotations. If you set it to opengl instead of Direct3D, it will alleviate the problem.

That will look something like this:

SET gxApi "D3D11"

^ Change that to...

SET gxApi "opengl"

Save the .wtf file after your changes, and re-launch WoW. If this makes your game bug out, simply edit the file again, replacing SET gxApi "D3D11".

For those of you sitting here going 'The hell is OpenGL?'...

In more detail, the two computer graphics APIs are the following:

Direct3D is a proprietary API that provides functions to render three dimensional graphics, and uses hardware acceleration if it is available on the graphics card. It was designed by Microsoft Corporation for use on the Windows platform. It can also be used on other operating systems through special software such as Wine, although the subset of features provided is not as complete as the reference implementation.

OpenGL is an open standard API that provides a number of functions to render 2D and 3D graphics, and is available on most modern operating systems including but not limited to Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

OpenGL and Direct3D are both implemented in the display driver. A significant difference however is that Direct3D implements the API in a common runtime (supplied by Microsoft), which in turn talks to a low-level Device Driver Interface (DDI). With OpenGL, every vendor implements the entire API in the driver itself. This means that some API functions may have slightly different behavior from one vendor to the next.

In general, Direct3D is designed to virtualize 3D hardware interfaces. Direct3D frees the game programmer from accommodating the graphics hardware. OpenGL, on the other hand, is designed to be a 3D hardware-accelerated rendering system that may be emulated in software.

These two APIs are fundamentally designed under two separate modes of thought.
As such, there are functional differences in how the two APIs work.

Direct3D expects the application to manage hardware resources; OpenGL makes the implementation do it. This tradeoff for OpenGL decreases difficulty in developing for the API, while at the same time increasing the complexity of creating an implementation (or driver) that performs well. With Direct3D, the developer must manage hardware resources independently; however, the implementation is simpler, and developers have the flexibility to allocate resources in the most efficient way possible for their application.

/tangent off

Went on a rant there, but maybe some of you learned something, and better yet, fixed a problem. Just wanted to share.

Thanks again for diagnosing the issue cause I would have never even known what to google to try and DIY fix it. I had already unsubscribed and cut my losses and that really did fix it.

Any idea what I did to change it or what happen?

Not necessarily anything you did. Direct3D can just have a lot of problems. Like I said, the same thing happens to Jettand, and I get it maybe once or twice a day.
